Acanthastrea Coral Aqualculture Acanthastrea Coral and other LPS is physically difficult to propagate, but it can be accomplished. The problem is torn flesh is quick to establish a bacterial infection. Brain Coral Like Blastomussa and Acanthastrea are less difficult. Gently swaying the colony for a few minutes the polyps retract and it's possible to make a clean break in the coral and cut the tissue with a razor. Good circulation afterwards is key, but not too much or the tissue will tear from the base of the Acanthastrea Coral.

Acanthastrea CoralSpecial Considerations Large Polyp Stony corals come in such a variety it's difficult to group all of them under the same category as far as feeding, lighting, and placement. As a rule of thumb the greater the tissue the volume of tissue the more delicate and less direct current. Full expansion is not always a sign of health either, the coral may not be meeting is energy requirements.
